A bold project aimed that building a 11 Hectare Indigenous forest in the Franschhoek Valley. Previously a site used for mining and extraction of top soil/building material, this project aims to change that. With the long term vision of having a forest that people can visit to learn more about Indigenous Trees, this project really looks to the future. Starting with a good soil foundation is how every forest flourishes and this is no exception. The ambitious goal of 110 000 cubes compost has been set to build the ground for the forest, so a composting operation was established onsite. As a technical advisors and microbial analytics lab, SoilScopes has been perfectly positioned to assist this project. Watch for the updates on planting and opening of this incredible project.

!Kwattu Ecosystem regeneration project is a critical experimental approach in restoring the native Sand Veld and Renoster Veld biomes along the Cape West Coast. By trialing a large range of restorative methods such as reintroduction of native seeds, rewilding previously farmed land and clearing of Alien vegetation. All this with the aims of restoration, building ecosystem resilience and combating indigenous habitat lose of both plant and animal life. We offer microbial and soil analysis for this project along with assisting with the introduction of ecosystem restorative methods.

Following the Organic Wine Farming methods and principles, Joostenberg has take further steps in Regenerative Agriculture. Working directly with SoilScopes, we have begun to implement a range of composting solutions; Medium scale hand turned hot compost, Worm farming and JohnsonSu Bioreactors are the first steps taken in producing the right inoculations for the farm. Cover crops inoculated with microorganisms have been sown to overwinter and provide benefits to the soil. We look forward to seeing the vines and wines respond the new soil inoculations they are receiving.
